Key responsibilities
Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, including history taking and diagnostic tests, to determine the need for surgical intervention.
Develop personalized surgical plans tailored to each patient's unique health needs.
Perform complex surgical procedures on the heart, lungs, and other thoracic organs, utilizing both traditional and minimally invasive techniques.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team to ensure comprehensive patient care before, during, and after surgery.
Monitor patients postoperatively, managing complications and ensuring optimal recovery.
Engage in ongoing research initiatives to improve surgical practices and patient outcomes in cardiothoracic surgery.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Completed a general surgery residency and an accredited cardiothoracic surgery fellowship.
Board certification in cardiothoracic surgery is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cardiothoracic surgical environment.
Proficient in a range of surgical techniques related to cardiothoracic procedures.
In-depth knowledge of cardiac and thoracic anatomy and physiology.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a medical team.
Ability to swiftly make informed decisions in high-pressure surgical scenarios.
Commitment to continuous professional development and education in the field.
Current medical license valid for practice in the state.
