In this vital role, you will provide expert care and guidance to patients with genetic disorders, ensuring they receive the most informed and compassionate support possible. Your work will involve diagnosing genetic conditions, explaining genetic testing processes and results, and developing individualized care plans.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with suspected genetic disorders, including detailed family histories.
Interpret and communicate results from genetic testing clearly to patients and their families.
Create personalized management plans that incorporate both genetic insights and general health considerations.
Provide genetic counseling to help families understand risks, options, and implications of testing.
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
Engage in clinical research and stay current with advancements in genetic medicine.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with a focus on genetics.
Board certification in clinical genetics required.
Valid and active medical license in the state of employment.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience in genetics.
Strong knowledge of genetic testing and interpretation.
Exceptional communication skills with a strong emphasis on patient education.
Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is an advantage
