JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse is responsible for competently providing safe and effective direct care. The Clinical Nurse assesses care needs, plans, implements and evaluates programs of care to include patients and families. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, aligned to Sidra Standards of Practice. The Clinical Nurse participates in the supervision, orientation and training of staff and is responsible for education of patients, families and students. The Clinical Nurse is professionally accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Population: Neonate, infant, toddler, pre-school age, school age, adolescent, young adults
Care environment: Care of assigned population in an urgent care/emergency/trauma care setting
KEY COMPETENCIES:

Growth and development, Birth - adult
Head-to-toe assessment, recognition of the unwell child
IV fluid management
Phlebotomy
Capillary blood sampling
Specimen collection
Care planning
Emergency medication preparation and administration
Nutritional requirements and enteral Feeding
Pain assessment and management
Risk screening and management
Skin integrity
Wound assessment and management
Cardiorespiratory monitoring
Care of the acute trauma patient
Procedural sedation
Tissue adhesive wound closure
Nurse-Initiated medication administration
Triage using the Emergency Severity Index system
Splinting
Tissue adhesive wound closure
Staple removal
Suture removal
Accessing central line
Incubator, radiant warmer and infant resuscitation system use
Phototherapy care and management
Hemodynamic monitoring Invasive and Non-invasive
Airway management and oxygen delivery system
Cardiac Electrical Management (i.e. Defibrillation, Pacing, Cardioversion, AED, etc.)
