Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

Diagnose and manage a wide range of oral and maxillofacial conditions, including facial trauma, jaw deformities, pathology, infections, and temporomandibular joint disorders

Perform complex oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures, including trauma surgery, orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, and reconstructive procedures

Manage head and neck infections, cysts, tumours, and benign lesions

Provide emergency on-call coverage for maxillofacial trauma and acute conditions as required

Deliver perioperative care, including pre-operative assessment and post-operative follow-up

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with ENT, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, dentistry, orthodontics, oncology, and anaesthesia teams

Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and case planning

Provide specialist consultation and guidance to referring clinicians

Quality, Education & Governance

Maintain high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and infection control

Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education

Contribute to teaching, supervision, and mentoring of junior medical and dental staff

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

Medical and/or dental degree from a recognized institution (as per training pathway)

Specialist or board certification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Minimum 5 years of post-specialist consultant-level experience

Eligibility for licensure with DOH (Abu Dhabi Department of Health)

Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage)

Preferred Experience

Experience in facial trauma and complex reconstructive surgery

Exposure to orthognathic surgery and advanced implantology

International training or experience (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or equivalent)

Experience working in tertiary or academic medical centres

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
