Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthesiologist to join a tertiary-level paediatric cardiac program in Al Ain. The role involves providing advanced anaesthetic care for neonatal, infant, and paediatric cardiac surgical and interventional procedures, including high-risk and complex congenital heart cases.

The successful candidate will work closely with paediatric cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and perfusion teams to ensure safe peri-operative care and optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Provide consultant-level anaesthesia for:

Paediatric and neonatal cardiac surgery

Cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures

Manage complex peri-operative anaesthetic care, including high-risk congenital cardiac cases

Perform advanced haemodynamic monitoring and peri-operative echocardiography (where applicable)

Participate in emergency and on-call services as required

Ensure safe post-operative handover to paediatric cardiac intensive care teams

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with:

Paediatric cardiac surgeons

Paediatric cardiologists and intensivists

Perfusionists, nursing, and allied health teams

Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac meetings and case planning discussions

Governance, Teaching & Quality

Maintain accurate and compliant medical documentation

Ensure compliance with DOH (HAAD) regulations, hospital policies, and international standards

Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and morbidity & mortality meetings

Support teaching and supervision of junior anaesthesia staff where applicable

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Licensing

Medical Degree with specialization in Anaesthesiology

Fellowship or equivalent training in Paediatric Cardiac Anaesthesiabr>

Eligible for DOH (HAAD) Consultant License or currently licensed

Experience

Consultant-level experience in paediatric cardiac anaesthesia

Proven experience managing neonatal and paediatric congenital cardiac cases

Experience in tertiary or quaternary cardiac centres preferred
