Roles & Responsibilities
To provide high standard and quality patient care in accordance with the Saudi Hospital mission, vision, and values in the Division of PICU within the Department of Pediatrics.
To provide inpatient care for patients admitted to the hospital under the Division of PICU either as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) or as the covering physician during rest hours, weekends, holidays, or vacations of the patient's MRP, and to be responsible when on-call, accepting the inconveniences associated with the patient's needs. The precise responsibilities of the MRP are available in the Department's Policies and Procedures.
To determine the final disposition and plan of care of his/her patients, in addition to coordinating the referral to other services if needed.
To provide consultation services to other divisions within the Department and other departments within the organization during the regular working and on-call hours according to the Department's Policies and Procedures.
To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she has been granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualifications, experience, and skills.
To participate in on-call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Division of PICU and the Department of Pediatrics.
To actively participate in the quality improvement program of the Department of Pediatrics.
To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates and to act as a role model.
To serve in divisional, departmental, and organizational committees as appointed by the Head of the Division of PICU, Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, or the Executive Management of the organization.
To participate in scientific research and contribute to the department's educational activities and postgraduate training programs as per the Department's Policies and Procedures.
To regularly participate in educational activities in order to acquire new skills and knowledge and to support career advancements.
To advocate for the health needs and well being of children and their families.
To adhere to all the rules and regulations of the Division of PICU, Department of Pediatrics, and the organization. Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPs and IPPs.
To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff by-law of the organization.
To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Head of the Division of PICU or the Chairman of the Department of pediatrics.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requires an MBBS with a recognized postgraduate degree (MD/DNB/FCPS in Pediatrics) and a specialized Fellowship in PICU.
Successful completion of a structured, accredited 2-3 years Pediatric Intensive Care Fellowship program. Candidates preferably having 5-7 years of post-board experience, SCFHS (Saudi Commission for Health Specialties) registration, Dataflow verification, and valid BLS/PALS certifications.
Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Postgraduate Degree: MD, DNB, or equivalent in Pediatrics.
Subspecialty Training: A recognized Fellowship or specialization in Pediatric Intensive Care.
Board Certification: Recognized board certification (e.g., Saudi Board, Arab Board, MRCPCH, or equivalent Western board).
Licensure & Verification: Valid license to practice, Dataflow Primary Source Verification (PSV) of all documents, and a Certificate of Good Standing - Post Final Approval / Selection
Certifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
