Where passion meets opportunity

The best of your adventures is the one you have yet to sail!

Your Purpose

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Medical Operations Nurse Specialist to support the MSC Medical Operations and Crew Services teams by coordinating medical care for crew members requiring shoreside treatment.

In this role, you will provide guidance to onboard medical teams while ensuring the smooth transition and continuity of care for crew members disembarked for medical reasons.

Acting as a key link between shipboard medical staff, crew services, and shoreside healthcare providers, you will manage medical cases, monitor treatment progress, and help ensure timely and effective medical support.

You will play an essential role in optimising shoreside medical operations, maintaining clear communication between stakeholders, and ensuring that crew members receive the highest standard of coordinated care throughout their medical journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of crew members while supporting the operational excellence of a global maritime organisation.

Your Impact

Crew Medical Case Management

In conjunction with the Manager of Medical Operations, coordinate the medical case management process for crew members disembarked due to illness or injury.

Liaise with medical providers, insurance partners, and internal departments to ensure timely and appropriate care.

Monitor recovery progress and facilitate return-to-work planning in collaboration with Crew Services and Occupational Health.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of crew medical cases using electronic health record systems.

Operational and Crisis Support

Collaborate with the Maritime Support Centre as needed to manage medical incidents and participate in the Emergency Group Ashore during major crises.

Collaborate with Public Health colleagues to provide operational support during communicable disease outbreaks, including contact tracing, reporting, and coordination of isolation protocols

Cost Control and Efficiency

Assist in tracking and analyzing shoreside medical costs, identifying trends and opportunities for cost containment.

Support the implementation of vendor management strategies and preferred provider networks

Training and Development

Develop and deliver training programs for shipboard nurses, paramedics, and medical administrators in collaboration with the Manager of Medical Education and Performance

Field Support and Investigations

Travel to vessels as required to support investigations, conduct training, and assist with significant medical incidents or audits.

Project Participation

Collaborate on special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Medical Operations, including digital health integration and crew wellness programs.
