Job description

Primary Purpose of the Job

Provide primary and emergency medical care to all personnel at the work site. Management of all matters relevant to the wellbeing of the offshore workforce with appropriate respect for individual privacy and the strictest medical confidentiality.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Provide emergency medical treatment of serious illness or injury to personnel in collaboration with the onshore physician for cases to Medivacked. and liaises with company medical personnel for emergency support and resources, if required. Ensures Triage plan is in place for use in the event of multiple casualties.

2. Provide sick bay services for minor illness or injury including relevant clinical assessment, treatment, and regular follow-up of all cases and ensuring appropriate referral of cases that have not resolved. Provide company vaccination clinics as required.

3. Conducting basic First Aid, CPR & AED training for designated personnel. Conduct regular platform exercises including stretcher handling with platform ERT to ensure readiness in the event of an emergency.

4. Ensure proper layout, fitting and equipment of the medical facility. Ensure medicine stock is maintained as per company protocols. Dispose of out-of-date stock and medical waste correctly as per company procedures

5. Maintain the sick bay in a clean and organized state of readiness, and ensure all medical equipment and gases are functional, regularly inspected and maintained, including calibration of required items.

6. Conduct regular platform OH inspections and highlights any issues to be rectified. Advises Lead Nurse and Hygienist on matters relating to food hygiene, including food handling and storage, and ensures food supplies storage and preparation meet accepted standards.

7. Conduct surveys and observes work conditions to identify processes which pose a risk to health of employees. Monitors noise and assesses possible chemical, biological or psychosocial risks which workers can be exposed to, to ensure the health and safety of workers in coordination with the Hygienist.

8. Educate, promote and present information to employees on healthy lifestyle (alcohol, drugs, smoking, diet, weight control, exercise, etc) and other health- related topics. Provide presentations at departmental safety meetings.

9. Perform weekly air quality tests on platform breathing air cascade system to ensure it meets required standards. Conduct quantitative face fit testing for personnel.

10. To keep track of medical related information’s such as details visit to medical bay, suspected work-related illness or disease, work related injuries and other data as required by Lead Nurse and Industrial Hygienist. Assist safety department in delivering safety briefings to all platform visitors as required.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience

• Registered Nurse or Registered Paramedic

• Meets the conditions to obtain QCHP Medical License

• Food Hygiene Certificate level 3

• BOSIET/FOET Certificate

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Industry as paramedic. Offshore experience is preferable.

• HSE Offshore Medic Certification

• First Aid teaching Qualification

• Industrial hygiene/Occupational Health qualification, Health and Safety qualification

(NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safety)
