Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist (General / Cataract) to join a well-established healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered ophthalmic care with a focus on general ophthalmology and cataract diagnosis, management, and surgery, in line with international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services

Diagnose and manage a wide range of general ophthalmic conditions

Perform cataract surgeries and related procedures with a high standard of care

Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up

Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging related to eye health

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical governance, and international quality standards

Participate in clinical audits, continuous medical education, and quality improvement initiatives

Educate patients and families on eye health, treatment plans, and preventive care

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Requirements

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)

Completion of recognized specialty training in Ophthalmology

Fellowship or equivalent qualification in Ophthalmology

Board Certification (e.g., UK CCT, FRCOphth, American Board, European Board, or equivalent)

Minimum 3 5 years post-consultant experience preferred

Proven experience in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology

Eligibility for DOH (Abu Dhabi) Consultant license

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to high ethical and professional standards

Preferred Skills

Experience working in a tertiary or well-equipped secondary care setting

Multicultural patient care experience

Interest in service development and clinical leadership
