The Role

A Registered Nurse in the Coronary Care Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital practices in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, delivering high-quality, person-centred cardiac care. The role involves coordinating and implementing comprehensive nursing interventions through assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation to support patients in achieving optimal health outcomes. Nurses maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in electronic systems, communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to continuity of care.

They supervise and delegate tasks to Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing in accordance with their scope and capability, while also engaging in clinical supervision, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development. The position requires adherence to NSW Health and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District policies, a commitment to organisational values and patient-centred excellence, and active promotion of wellbeing for both patients and colleagues.

Where You'll be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/ Midwife.

Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse that applies to a Coronary Care clinical setting

Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.

Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.

Current computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.

Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.

Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.

Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.
