Job Description
Assist cardiologists and physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, and catheterization.
Prepare patients for procedures by conducting assessments, obtaining consent, and explaining procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
Monitor patients vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition before, during, and after procedures.
Ensure proper setup, calibration, and functioning of cath lab equipment and instruments.
Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques to prevent infection during procedures.
Administer medications, including sedation, as prescribed and monitor patient response.
Respond promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, or complications during procedures.
Assist in post-procedure care, including patient monitoring, sheath removal, and managing recovery.
Document all procedures, patient conditions, medications, and nursing interventions accurately.
Educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure care, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure availability of required equipment in the cath lab.
Job Skills
Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular procedures.
Proficiency in operating cath lab equipment, including monitoring systems and imaging devices.
Ability to interpret ECG rhythms and identify cardiac abnormalities.
Critical thinking and quick decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and emergency response.
