Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a qualified Specialist Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon to join a tertiary-care cardiac service in Abu Dhabi. The role involves the surgical management of congenital and acquired cardiac conditions in neonates, infants, and children, working under consultant supervision within a highly specialized multidisciplinary cardiac team.

The successful candidate will contribute to safe, high-quality surgical care, service delivery, and ongoing development of paediatric cardiac surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Assist in and perform paediatric cardiac surgical procedures appropriate to specialist level

Manage pre-operative assessment and post-operative care for paediatric cardiac surgery patients

Participate in emergency and on-call rotas as required

Monitor patient progress and manage complications under consultant guidance

Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with:

Consultant paediatric cardiac surgeons

Paediatric cardiologists and intensivists

Anaesthesiology, perfusion, and nursing teams

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions

Governance & Quality

Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Comply with DOH (HAAD) regulations, hospital policies, and international best practices

Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality initiatives

Support teaching and supervision of junior trainees where applicable

Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements

Qualifications & Licensing

Medical Degree with specialization in Cardiac Surgery

Subspecialty training in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery

Eligible for DOH (HAAD) Specialist License or currently licensed

Experience

Specialist-level experience in paediatric cardiac surgery

Hands-on exposure to congenital cardiac surgical cases

Experience in tertiary or quaternary cardiac centers preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong surgical and peri-operative management skills

Ability to work effectively within a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment

Good communication and professional judgment
