Roles & Responsibilities

Transplant Surgeon Specialist / Consultant

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Employment Type Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Perform and assist in solid organ transplant procedures (as per specialty and scope of practice)

Evaluate and manage transplant candidates pre-operatively

Provide comprehensive post-operative care and long-term follow-up for transplant recipients

Participate in organ procurement and donor management processes

Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary transplant teams, including hepatology, nephrology, ICU, anesthesia, and nursing

Ensure adherence to national transplant regulations, ethical standards, and hospital policies

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and outcome reporting

Participate in on-call rotas as required

Contribute to clinical governance, audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives

Support teaching, mentoring, and training of junior medical staff

Qualifications & Requirements For Specialist Level:

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)

Completion of recognized specialty training in General Surgery

Subspecialty training or fellowship in Transplant Surgery

Board certification or equivalent recognized qualification

Minimum 3 years post-specialist experience in transplant surgery

Eligibility for DOH (Abu Dhabi) Specialist license

For Consultant Level:

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)

Completion of higher specialty training in General Surgery

Advanced fellowship in Transplant Surgery from a recognized center

Board Certification (e.g., UK CCT, American Board, European Board, or equivalent)

Minimum 5+ years post-consultant experience in transplant surgery

Eligibility for DOH (Abu Dhabi) Consultant license

Required Skills & Competencies

Proven expertise in transplant surgical techniques relevant to specialty

Strong decision-making and leadership abilities

Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills

Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based medicine

Experience working in high-acuity or tertiary care hospital settings

Preferred Experience

Prior experience in government or large tertiary hospitals

Exposure to international transplant programs

Research, publications, or involvement in transplant registries

Desired Candidate Profile

For Specialist Level:
